Growing up in Dallas, and having previously worked for the Nasher family, the Nasher Sculpture Center was always a source of beauty, peace and inspiration to me. I loved going to concerts or movies at ‘Night at the Nasher’ in my high school years and my art history classes gave me such an appreciation for the work of these varied and talented artists.
When Carson Castellaw approached me about doing the floral design for the wedding she was planning I was beyond thrilled for the opportunity. Charlotte was the most calm and gracious bride to work with who wanted their evening to reflect ‘elegance and simplicity’ and allow the natural beauty of the Nasher to have the spotlight. Soft ivory and blush tones with shades of greenery were her colors and so of course O’Hara white, Quicksand and champage roses I knew would be perfect, along with some classic favorites in lisianthus and stock.
However, I wanted her to have a little ‘something unique’ that you wouldn’t traditionally see in a wedding with this color palette. At their mock up day, I designed their table to include the flowers we discussed along with fully bloomed green and white Hellebore and Clooni blush ranunculus, both sourced direct from Holland. When Charlotte and her mother saw them, they were so pleased and said ‘these two are our favorites’. It brings me so much joy to create something both beautiful and unique for my clients and to allow the beauty of the flowers to do all the work.
On their special day in March the weather in Dallas was perfect without a single drop of rain. Two long tables were set with La Tavola’s gorgeous Luisa linens underneath string lights that we wrapped with southern smilax to create an intimate, garden-esque feel. The tables were filled with greenery, hundreds of bud vases, and white pillar candles and votives all sourced by Petal and Field.
The whole day came together perfectly with the help of a wonderful team and we were so honored to be designing for this family, for Carson Castellaw and at the Nasher Sculpture Center
