Café 43 at the Bush Library is quickly becoming one of my favorite places to design. Velma and her team are organized, gracious and helpful and every event runs smoothly here. I had the privilege of designing another rehearsal dinner in this space for a family from Austin looking to enhance the natural Texas setting of the Bush Library for their summer wedding with deep navy blues and bright pops of color. We actually started with the idea of bringing in farmhouse tables from Lawson Event Rentals as the mother of the groom liked the idea of the exposed wood on the table. BBJ’s Jax Cornflower linen pattern served as both inspiration and the perfect linen accompaniment with napkins and runners, and we added a navy burlap to the rounds and cocktail tables. For our pops of color I felt that deep oranges in seasonal floral and bright Texas yellows with a wildflower twist would lend itself perfectly to a night with boots, blazers and bolo ties. Locally grown florals were sourced for the zinnias and sunflowers, which was of importance to the family. Finally, a pop of fun with cacti, succulents and potted blue daze morning glory helped bring the evening together for both an upscale seated dinner and lively cocktail reception for guests to follow. It was a perfect Texas summer night under the stars.
